On the edge of the city of Cuernavaca, in the municipality of Jiutepec, there is a small mountain made up mostly of volcanic rock. Here, on the side and top of this steep hill the colonia of Cerro de la Corona is perched. It is one of the poorest and most rugged areas that VAMOS! serves. We started our connection to this colonia in 2001, offering meals and some classes outside of their local school, in a building made from the sides of crates from the nearby Nissan factory. Over time the people here organized and VAMOS! helped them build a community center where we now hold programs five days a week. We offer our meals and vitamins, education from pre-school to 8th grade, medical and dental services, music lessons and computers studies, plus programs for women.

Children line up to brush their teeth everyday at VAMOS! projects. Along with washing their hands, it is part of our hygiene education program.
