28th de Agosto, or 28th of August, is a community center that VAMOS! started in 1998 after leaders in this colonia located in the municipality of Jiutepec, asked if we would join them in their pursuit to make life better for their children. After a year of working with the people in this rural community on the outskirts of Cuernavaca the colonia donated a piece of land and VAMOS! got started. The dirt roads that lead to this extremely poor area are bumpy and sometimes washed out, however that does not stop the children and their moms from coming here in bunches! All of our services are available here – education from pre-school to 8th grade, meals, medical services, music program and computer classes and lots of programming for women too.
