HELP BRING BOOKS TO OUR POOR CHILDREN!
BUY A BOOK AND YOU WILL BUILD A DREAM FOR A CHILD!
One of our volunteers recently gave books to some of the VAMOS! children. There were two sisters who wouldn’t put their book down. Their eyes lit up when they were told that the book was theirs to keep, “Can we really take this home? This is our first book! Thank you. Gracias!”
This is their first book? Of course it is, they live in a shack. They barely can afford enough food. The light bulb lit up in my brain. “WE NEED TO GET SOME BOOKS!” Mothers had asked us to help teach reading and writing to their children in these poor neighborhoods and we are doing that every day. And we are doing it with a love and respect that permeates our 10 centers. But children need books too! Why teach them to read but not give them a book? How great would it be if they could borrow books that would feed their creativity and their imagination? Harry Potter. Goodnight Moon. The Cat in the Hat. The Outsiders. Books are as important as food and medicine in the development of a child. So we created Buy a Book – Build a Dream! Our goal is to create libraries in each of our 10 centers for children to borrow books to take home. Let’s do the math….we’ll start 
with 200 books in a library, so that’s about 25 books for each grade. At $5 per book that would be $1000 for one library. We have 10 centers so that means we need 10 libraries, so we need to raise $10,000!

VAMOS! exists only because individuals and groups–people like you–care enough to help the Mexican poor. We receive no support from government agencies nor from official church hierarchies.
